Collaboration between Department of Agronomy (Faculty of Agriculture, UGM) and UMR-AGAP (CIRAD)

Professor Taryono organized a meeting with the young staff of the Department of Agronomy to talk about research collaborations after the RUBIS Project.

The Department of Agronomy would like to develop research on food crops under trees to address the issues of food security, land-use to prevent deforestation and climate change. A participatory research including participatory plant breeding (PPB) is one of the targets of the future collaboration with CIRAD and the RUBIS Initiative. Modelling the impact of climate change on crop production, increasing the potential of germplasm with landraces, establishment of core-collections based on the genetic diversity and their characterization using ecophysiological traits linked to climate change factors were discussed.
